Hello-hello! Today I’m gonna tell you about the idiom ‘To be in somebody’s shoes’. If I were in your shoes, I would do this. And if you were in my shoes, you would do something else.

We use this idiom to give advice. It’s the same that ‘If I were in your situation or If I were you. So now we use ‘If I were in your shoes, I would do something differently’, for example.

We use this idiom in conditional type 2. In conditionals – in sentences with ‘if’ I mean we always use ‘were’, not ‘was’.  So I will give you some examples.

I’m so fat! What should I do? – If I were in your shoes, I would stop eating chips before sleep’ – Thanks for your suggestion. You’re so kind)

And another example is about job. ‘ I’m so tired of my work. I think my boss doesn’t like me! – If I were in your shoes, I would try to work harder. Maybe your boss would like you more’.

And another suggestion is about relationship. ‘ I think my boyfriend doesn’t love me! – If I were in your shoes, I would try to find another boyfriend’ – best friend’s suggestion. As always)

Let’s check out the video!

‘If I were in your shoes

I’d whisper before I shout

Can’t you stop playing that record again

Find somebody else to talk about

If I were in your shoes

I’d worry of the effects

You’ve had your say but now it’s my turn

Sweet dreams my LA ex.

That’s all for today. I hope that was interesting for you. Bye-bye! See you next time.
